Town Lake Hills: Summer Pools, Special Assessments, and Community Events
Summer sunshine brings both exciting developments and necessary financial decisions to Town Lake Hills this July. Our podcast dives into the details of the recently announced $300 special assessment that has left many homeowners with questions. The assessment, due September 1st, will fund a complete renovation of our community splash pad—a project already underway with an initial deposit made and completion targeted for next swim season.
Great news for pool-goers! Both the North and East pools are now open, though with different closing dates and schedules. North Pool remains available until September 28th, operating 9am-9pm daily, while East Pool closes slightly earlier on September 1st with 10am-9pm hours. Parents should note the important lifeguard schedule change coming August 2nd, when coverage shifts to weekends only.
The newsletter highlights an upcoming Back to School Ice Cream Social at the playground on July 27th from 2-3pm, featuring the Pit Stop Ice Cream Truck (RSVP required at sociallytlh@gmail.com).
Community remains at the heart of everything we do. The podcast celebrates recent graduates heading to prestigious universities, introduces tennis director Mark Bilson and his team who offer lessons for all ages and skill levels, and reminds residents about weekly Tuesday night pickleball on courts 9 and 10.
Whether you're concerned about assessments or simply want to get more involved, your voice matters. Join us at our monthly board meetings or reach out directly to any board member—we're here to serve you and build a stronger Town Lake Hills together.
Welcome to the Town Lake Hills Board Podcast, your go-to source for the latest updates and news in our neighborhood. We're here to keep you informed and connected about upcoming events, community initiatives and important neighborhood updates. Thanks for tuning in. Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, whatever time you're listening to this, I want to welcome you to the Town Lake Hills Board Podcast for July. We're kind of simplifying it this month and it's just going to be me, but I want to again extend hellos and welcomes from all the board members here at Town Lake Hills. I also want to recognize all the committee members as well. So again, the President, gary Winchester, the Vice President, alex Carbineau, the Treasurer, sean Kaufman, and that's myself Secretary Lisa Waters and Director Adam Morehart. So those are your board members. I do want to recognize all of them and let you know that we will be speaking a little bit about what's going on Now.
Speaker 1:Today is July 21st. We have a board meeting tonight and no doubt that there will be lots of people that may show up to talk a little bit about the assessment fee of $300 that everybody has received, and the board looks forward to talking to anyone and everyone about that assessment fee and why we needed that assessment fee. I know that we've tried to in previous podcasts, talk a little bit about that, but please feel free to come tonight if you can make it to the board meeting. If you can't make it to the board meeting, you can always give us a call, very, very happy to answer and talk to any resident who has any questions about why we're doing what we're doing. I truly believe the process that we are using, or doing, in essence, is the best path forward. I mean, we have considered so many things for so long. I'm just happy that we're taking steps forward and we'll have a really really, really neat splash pad solution by next year, and so we're really looking forward to presenting that.
Speaker 1:Okay, just a couple of things going around in the newsletter. Again, hearts and thoughts go out to Jim Nelson. I know that many of you may have heard that Jim has resigned. He had lots of years of service and has some very, very tough things in life going on right now. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and everyone in the community who is struggling or having some difficulties. Certainly, again, jim Nielsen, you're in our thoughts and our prayers.
Speaker 1:We also had a departure of Hillary. Hillary has departed, but she is still very much a part of Sixes, still very much part of the services that are being provided. She's doing this remotely from her home state to Oklahoma and so we do want to give you updates on that. We do know that East and North pools are open. We're so sorry for the delay in that North Pool, but that has been opened and we are still moving forward on that aspect. As you can tell, the splash pad remains closed, but we will and we are working on things right now to make sure that that splash pad is up and running next year. I do want to thank Tammy Bullard for all the work that she's doing on a committee up and running next year. I do want to thank Tammy Bullard for all the work that she's doing on a committee. She is really progressing that forward and we have made our initial deposit. So we are excited about having this project done by the swim season next year. So all the children should be able to have a brand new splash pad, a blend kind of a really, really cool amenity that will be upgraded and done. We're thankful for that.
Speaker 1:Again, that special assessment fee I know that we're going to hear a lot about that. It will be due September 1st. So we have a couple months to prepare for that first. So we have a couple months to prepare for that and, again, very, very happy to share details on the project and why we had to do this and why this route was the best moving forward. Again, no one on the board is pleased or happy to have to impose this assessment. Nobody is but for the long-term benefits and for the fiscal strength of our community, it really truly is probably the best path forward. Again, there are lots of positions on this, but that really is something I think we'll be able to discuss more tonight.
Speaker 1:We are doing a podcast, as you know. If you're listening to this, obviously you know about this right now. If you really want to include any pictures or photos in our Town Lake newsletter, which is what I'm going to use for most of this podcast, please make sure that you send it in by August 1st. You still have a couple of days. You have maybe a week and a half to include those photos into that newsletter. Lots of great advertisements in here. Lots of really, really cool there's. Meet some of the pets of Town Lake Hills. If you want your pet featured in the next newsletter, remember. Newsletter at townlakehillshoacom. Newsletter at townlakehillshoacom. Newsletter at townlakehillshoacom. You can send some photos. That's pretty neat. I see a lot of pets in Town Lake Hills walking around the neighborhood. Sure, would love to know the names. I think that'd be really, really cool. Also, there's good advertisements of plumbing and all sorts of local and small businesses. If you want to support them in this Cal Lake Hills newsletter, make sure you get that it's delivered via email. If you're not getting that, please let us know.
Speaker 1:Remember the pool hours. This is important. The North Pool is open from May 23rd to September 28th, so we still have plenty of time in that North Pool. And when we look at the East Pool, it is opened from May 23rd to September 28th, so we still have plenty of time in that North pool. And when we look at the East pool, it is opened from May 23rd to September 1st, so we still got a couple months there. Remember the East pool hours are different than the North pool hours. The East pool hours are from 10 am to 9 pm, seven days a week, and when we look at the North pool hours they're from 9 am to 9 pm, seven days a week as well. Now remember the lifeguard schedule until May 22nd is weekends only. Well, we're past that Until August 1st. So August 1st the lifeguard schedule will be seven days a week, 10 am to 9 pm. However, starting August 2nd, from August 2nd to September 1st, it's only weekend, so it'll be swim at your own risk and make sure parents you know that.
Speaker 1:Okay, there's all sorts of really good information in this newsletter and gives all sorts of phone numbers for a sixes for property management. Sixes is 770-575-0943. But also that's if you want to call sixes property management. But if you want to call Swim Atlanta about anything going on with the pools as well, you can always tell board members. But you can give Swim Atlanta a call too at 770-992-7665. That's a phone number that you can reach out to Lots of good pool rules. My general rule and thought as a board member is just make sure that you listen to those lifeguards. I think that's absolutely important. Good article in here about poison ivy from Mary Schuster, if you do want to read that newsletter.

Go out there, meet your neighbors, have fun, play some pickleball. All right, that's all I've got for this podcast.
Speaker 1:Again, ladies and gentlemen, I do want to say to you, as a board member we really, truly do value your insights, your perspectives. Sometimes we can do everything we can to accommodate, and sometimes we may just have to agree to disagree, but we get to do it kindly, and that's what this board is all about. We're not really. It's been very refreshing. This board has really taken an approach of trying to advocate for our residents and our neighbors and do what we can and do the best job that we can to support and serve them. I look forward to seeing anyone and everyone who comes to any board meeting, and if you can make it tonight, we sure would like you to be there. It starts at 5 pm. We would certainly love to hear your voice and we'd certainly love to see you at the board meeting. Okay, well, ladies and gentlemen, again, thoughts and prayers go out to anyone and everyone in the community that may be falling on hard times. Let's try our best to be good neighbors to each other, and I look forward to chatting with you next month.
Speaker 1:Maybe I'll have another board member on the podcast, but I want to thank again all of those who serve on the board. I want to thank all of those who are serving on the committees which, by the way, I'd love to mention their names so that you may have an idea of who is serving you and the committee aspects.
